Obituary: Mary Harrell Cline, 99, passed away Wednesday morning, September 26, 2018, at Curis at Concord Nursing and Rehab, of which she was a resident. Born October 7, 1918 in Cabarrus County, Mary was the daughter of the late John and Maude Harrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Billy Boyden Cline, and her daughter, Sarah C. Scercy. Mrs. Cline had retired from Cannon Mills after more than 40 years of service. She had been a lifelong member of Central Baptist Church and Genesis Baptist Church, was a long time Sunday school teacher and formerly a member of the Joyful Sounds gospel quartet. A loving and devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Cline will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Family members left to cherish her memory include her sons, David B. Cline (Carol) and Jerry R. Cline, Sr. (Linda), both of Kannapolis; her grandchildren, Cathy Dugas, Charles Scercy, Jr., Melanie D. Ludwick (Terry), David W. Cline (Jennie) and Jerry R. Cline, Jr. (Lisa); great-grandchildren, Dean Cornett (Tina), Christopher L. Ludwick, Ezra Cline and Jacqueline Cline; and her brother Johnny W. Harrell, II (Carolyn). The family will receive friends Friday, September 28th from 1:00-2:00 pm at Whitley's Funeral Home. Funeral services to remember and celebrate the life of Ms. Cline will begin at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Rev. Gene Edwards. Mrs. Cline will be laid to rest with her husband at Carolina Memorial Park.
