Obituary: Kannapolis - Mary Lee Johnston Crosby, age 95, went to be with her Lord, Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, NC after a period of declining health. She was born October 21, 1913 in Cabarrus County, NC, the daughter of the late Daniel P. Johnston and Winona Cook Johnston.She was proud to be raised in a Christian home by Christian parents. Mary Lee was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of the area.She was a member of West Point Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC and was known by her family to be an enthusiastic Tar Heel Basketball fan.She also had a strong passion for fishing. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, John Ross Crosby on November 5, 1996; a son, Joel Crosby; and four brothers. The funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by the Revs. Blair Bridle and John Mark Beam.Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC.The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at the funeral home.The family will be at the home of a son, James Ross Crosby, 130 N. Second Street, China Grove, NC the remainder of the time. Survivors include her two sons, James Ross Crosby & wife, Bessie of China Grove (Enochville Community), NC and Jeffrey Lee Crosby & wife, Brenda of Rockwell, NC; twelve grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren Memorials may be made to West Point Baptist Church, 1100 Pine Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
