Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Fowler

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Fowler, age 84, died Monday, December 6, 2010 at Carillon Assisted Living, Salisbury, NC after a brief illness. She was born August 9, 1926 in Mecklenburg County, NC, the daughter of the late Clifton C. Withers and Adele Osborne Withers.Betty was a 1943 graduate of the former J.W. Cannon High School. Betty worked for the former Terry Products, Inc. in Kannapolis for 30 years until her retirement in 1996. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Lynn S. Fowler; a daughter, Allison Fowler Boger; and a son, Michael Douglas Fowler. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Kim E. Trabold.The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.The family will be at the home of her son, Christopher Todd Fowler in Salisbury, NC the remainder of the time. Survivors include a daughter, Sheila Fowler Harvey & husband, Roy of Oriental, NC; a son, Christopher Todd Fowler & wife, Genene of Salisbury, NC; a daughter-in-law, Susan Fowler of Kannapolis, NC; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Kathleen Harris & husband, Don of New Bern, NC; and a brother, Clifton C. Withers & wife, Marilyn of Marietta, GA. Betty requested that her remains be cremated and any bequests or memorial contributions be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 512 Klumac Road, Salisbury, NC 28144 in lieu of flowers.
