Mary Catherine (Williford) Gulledge

Mary Catherine Williford Gulledge, 73, was welcomed into the arms of her Savior on Thursday morning, January 28, 2021, from Atrium Health Cabarrus.

Born October 3, 1947, in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Samson and Hazel Frances Miller Williford.  In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Eugene Gulledge, and her infant triplets, Odessa Ann, Catherine Diane and Donna Rae.

A graduate of Boyden High, Mary had earlier worked for Cannon Mills, later becoming a teacher for Child Colony of Kannapolis, and was a member of The Brook Church. She loved all of her family and adored her Dachsund, Coby.  Mary was a selfless, loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and a friend to many. After being around Mary for any length of time, one couldn’t help but love her. She cared so much for everyone else’s happiness and well-being, and she always put everyone else’s needs above her own. God and family were the most important parts of Mary’s life. Her family is saddened by her loss, but rejoicing that she is in the arms of Jesus and no longer suffering.

Loving family members include her children, Lonnie Tidwell, Danny Tidwell (Anne), Martin Tidwell and Amanda Reece (Dustin); her loving sister, Diane Corn; her much loved grandchildren, Ava and Olivia Reece, and Travis, Cody, Ireland and Jordyn Tidwell.

Using standard Covid-19 precautions, the family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, from 10:00-12:00 pm, at The Brook Church.  Funeral services to remember, give thanks for and celebrate the life of Mrs. Gulledge will begin at 12 noon in the church, conducted by Pastor Jon Harless. Mary will be laid to rest in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, China Grove.  For those who may prefer, memorials in Mrs. Gulledge’s name may be made to The Brook Church, 2290 S. US 29, China Grove, NC  28023.
