Obituary: Mary Mainer Hatley, 80 of Kannapolis died on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at the Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Mary was born in Cabarrus County on February 27, 1932, the daughter of the late Joseph Emmit "J.E." Mainer and the late Sadie McDaniel Mainer. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Roy L. Hatley who died in 2011. Mary worked for the Cabarrus County Schools in the food service department retiring in 1989. She was a member of Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church and dearly loved music. She was an avid musician and like her father," J.E." Mainer who was with the Mountaineers, Mary enjoyed playing in bands. She also enjoyed fishing and hunting. The funeral service for Mrs. Hatley will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 21, 2012 graveside services at West Concord Cemetery conducted by Rev. John Sell. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home from 1-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, before the service. Survivors include her two sons, Doug Jarvis and Steve Jarvis (Sherrie) all of Concord; a daughter, Janet J. Diggs (Ralph) of Charlotte; a step-daughter, Dianne Hatley of Harrisburg; a step-son, Roy E. Hatley of Concord; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; three brothers, J.E. Mainer, Jr. and Charles Mainer both of Concord and Glenn Mainer of Harrisburg. Also, by her K-9 "baby", Keeta.
