Obituary: Mary Stuart High Hogan, 84, of Concord went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the Laurels of Salisbury following a period of declining health. Mary was born April 21, 1934 in Cabarrus County, NC a daughter of the late Benjamin Samuel High and Ruth Ann Goodnight High. Also preceding her in death was her husband, William Richard Hogan, who died in 1998 and a son, John Robert Hogan who died in 1999. Mary attended Sloan Lake Community Church. In early life she was employed as a hemmer at Cannon Mills, Plt. #1, for fifteen years. She later was a homemaker and a caregiver for her husband. She loved to crochet. Family members left to cherish her memories are two daughters; Beth Honeycutt and husband James of Hickory, and Terry Kiser and husband David of Mooresville. She is also survived by one sister, Shirley Burleson of Concord, eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Dr. Zachary Sizemore. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 12:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. At other times they will be at their respective residences. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or to Hospice of Rowan County, 720 Grove Street, Salisbury, NC 28144.
