Mary Johnson

Obituary: Mary Grace Copley Johnson, 98, passed away Thursday evening, March 30, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her family. Born in Yadkin County on March 2, 1919, Mary was a daughter of the late Charles Webster and Martha Elizabeth Adams Copley. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her husband, Arthur "Pete" Wilson Johnson, and 10 brothers and sisters. Mrs. Johnson had earlier worked for Cannon Mills, later becoming a devoted and loving homemaker. She enjoyed flowers, watching birds and absolutely adored children. Her family fondly remembers her enjoyment in cracking black walnuts. Loving family members include her children Sheila Almond (Stephan), Margaret Ritchie, Dan Johnson (Terri), Dale Johnson (Rebecca), Gale Price and Ernestine Edwards (Don); 20 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 29 great-great grandchildren and one great great-great grandchild. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 2nd from 2:00-3:00 pm at Whitley's Funeral Home. Funeral services to remember and celebrate the life of Mrs. Johnson will begin at 3:00 pm, in the funeral home chapel.
