Mary Claudean Smith Kluttz passed away on February 8, 2024, at Big Elm Nursing Center in Kannapolis after a year of declining health. She was born September 27,1937 in Kannapolis to Harry Lee and Pansy Ferguson Smith. Preceding her in death were her husband Hoy Kluttz who she married July 10, 1971, brothers Fred, Harvey, and Grady Smith, and sister Maylene Ennis. Claudean enjoyed all kinds of crafting and was also a champion bowler. She was actively involved in her church, St. John's Reformed Church, and particularly the Young at Hearts. Survivors include nieces Jenny Davis of Alabama, Glynis Allison of Davidson, NC, and nephews Jeff Smith of Mt. Ulla, NC, Mike Smith of York, SC, Harvey Smith and Rudy Smith of Virginia, step-daughter Kay Miller of Kannapolis, 2 step grand-daughters Madeline and Tiffany, 2 step great grand-daughters and numerous great nieces and nephews. In addition, Claudean was blessed with dear friends who will miss her greatly - Lori King, Phyllis Smith Black, and Atha Hendrix. Claudean's Memorial Service will be held at St. John's Reformed Church, 901 N Main Street, Kannapolis NC on February 17, at 11:00 AM. Visitation is 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM. Memorials can be made to the Senior Adult Ministry at St. John's Reformed Church, 901 N. Main Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
