Obituary: Mary Evelyn Wilkerson Lambert, 72, of 801 Washington Ln., Kannapolis died at Avante' at Concord on Saturday, January 28, 2012. Mrs Lambert was born on May 6, 1939 in Rowan Co., NC the daughter of the late Charles William Wilkerson and the late Mildred Jane Reeves Wilkerson. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Lee Lambert who died April 21, 2011. Also, by her granddaughter Amy Lynn Lambert, and a brother, Johnny Wilkerson, Sr.Mrs. Lambert was a lifelong resident of this area. She was a member of Jackson Park Baptist Church and retired in 1996 from Cannon Mills where she worked as a cutter for 27 years.She is survived by 2 sons, Eric Lee Lambert (Teena) and David Wayne Lambert (Tammy) both of Kannapolis; 2 daughters, Jane W. Humphries (Bert) of Monroe, and Darlene L. Shirley (Jim) of Columbia, SC.; 4 grandchildren, Michael Shirley, Allan Lambert (Samantha), Savannah Humphries and Brooks Humphries and a brother, Jimmie Wilkerson (Martha) of China Grove, NC. Mrs. Lambert is also survived by a niece and special caregiver, Cindy Eckrote of Rockwell.The service for Mrs. Lambert will be held at 2:00p.m., on Monday, Jan. _30, 2012, graveside services at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis conducted by Rev. Herman Adsher and Rev. Jon L. Estes.
