Mary Ella Mitchell

Obituary: Mary Ella Mitchell 97, of Kannapolis went home to be with her Lord and Savior May 3, 2018 after a period of declining health. She was born December 10, 1920 in Stanley County to George F. Coble, Sr. and Emma Louise Blackwelder Coble. Mary Ella was the oldest and a lifetime member of North Kannapolis United Methodist Church. She loved her church family and was very active in all phases of the church. She enjoyed making cakes to help with any fund raising and always made sure food was provided for a funeral meal. Mary Ella's trademark was her smile and always made you feel that you made a friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles (Chassie) Mitchell, a son Terry Mitchell, three brothers; G. F., Fred and Bill Coble and one sister, Nancy Harper. Mary Ella is survived by her son Wayne Mitchell and his wife Saundra of Kannapolis, a sister Margie Eddy of Salisbury, two sister-in-laws Dottie Coble of Kannapolis, and Carolyn Coble of Faith. Three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 7, 2018 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Hartman officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. Mary Ella will be laid to rest in Carolina Memorial Park beside her husband.
