Mary Frances Jordan Nicholson

Obituary: Frances Jordan Nicholson, 74, of Kannapolis went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at CMC-Northeast, Concord following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 21, 1937 in Chesterfield County, SC a daughter of the late Daniel Blease Jordan and Josie Bell Hancock Jordan. Frances was a 1956 graduate of Winecoff High School and in earlier years had been employed at Cannon Mills, Plt. #1, Sheet Dept. She later retired from K&W restaurant in Carolina Mall. She was a member of Shadybrook Baptist Church where she had taught children's Sunday School for 35 years. She also was a member of the Mission Action Circle and worked with the GA's, Bible School, Seniors and youth. She was known for loving her family, her friends, and her country. Frances was a member of the former Kannapolis Chapter of the O.E.S. in Kannapolis and later a member of Eureka Chapter 277 O.ES. She enjoyed traveling with her friends and family and was an avid photographer. She was an Honorary Member of What-A-Burger #10. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Edward Nicholson, Sr. who died in 1973 and a brother, Thomas Lee Jordan in 2002. Survivors include two sons, David Nicholson and wife Angie , Eddie Nicholson and wife Donna, and a daughter, Leigh Ann Davis and husband Steve, all of Kannapolis. Seven grandchildren surivive, Kristi Safrit and husband Nick, Kaila Page and husband Jonathan, Miranda Pressley and husband Josh, Jordan Nicholson, Ashleigh Davis, Alison Davis, and Anna Davis. Also survived by two great grandchildren, Charlie Page; and Kinsley Safrit due to arrive in September. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Ruth Jordan of Kannapolis her children, Patricia, Shirley and Cindy. Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Shadybrook Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dr. Steve Davis, a son-in-law, Rev. Don Davis, Rev. Rich Szekely and Mr. Norman Snodderly. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to final rites. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 P.M. Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence.
