Mary Ethel Foster Norris

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC Mary "Ethel" Foster Norris, age 86, of 913 Washington Ln. died Thursday, April 21, 2011 at her home after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 23 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at West Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 - 9:00 PM Friday, April 22 at Whitley's Funeral Home, at other times they will be at the family home. Mary was born June 17, 1924 in Cabarrus Co., a daughter of the late A.P. and Mary Etta Foster. She was a life-long area resident, graduating from Cannon High School in 1942. She was a Veteran of the US Army serving during WWII. Mary was a long time employee in the textiles industry, working for Burlington, Cannon and Linn Mills. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Eugene Norris, who died in 1985 and also preceded in death by 7 brothers and sisters. Mary is survived by her son, Larry W. Norris of Kannapolis, her daughter, Brenda Dianne Norris of the family home, and son, Mike L. Norris (Angela) of Kannapolis. Also surviving are grandchildren; Kimberley Dianne Murphy, Kristopher Paul Norris, Kristy Michelle Norris, Kacie Lynn Norris, Keri LeAnne Norris, Kelly Renee Norris, Michael Eugene Norris and Jessica Taylor Helms, 3 great-grandchildren and 2 brothers; Issac Slate Foster of High Rock, Norman Foster of Cape Kennedy, FL and 2 sisters; Frances Blackwelder of Mooresville and Pearl Fullam of Landis.
