Mary Ellen Fesperman Overcash, 80, passed away Wednesday evening, March 24, 2021, at The Citadel of Salisbury, where she had been a resident.
Born August 8, 1940, in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late Donald Lee and Willis Elizabeth Torrence Fesperman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Max Overcash, and her sister, Ann Basinger.
Mary was a graduate of A.L. Brown High, continuing her education at King’s Business College and retired from Pillowtex after more than 20 years of dedicated service. Following her retirement, Mary and Max moved to Couch, Missouri, where they purchased and worked their farm for 17 years, before moving back to Salisbury. Mrs. Overcash had been a loyal member of Faith Baptist Church. She was accomplished and talented in poetry writing, having had several poems published. A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Mrs. Overcash will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Family members include her children, Reid Overcash (Leah) and Ginger Honeycutt Taylor (Tim); her grandchildren, Colton Overcash, Charles Durham, Brittany Moore, Jamie Overcash (Kevin), Brandon Kluttz, Cynthia Parham (Matt), Kayla Parham (Anthony), and Darlene Taylor (Bryan), 7 great-grandchildren and one “soon to be”.
The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00 noon, Saturday, March 27th at Whitley’s Funeral Home. Services to remember, give thanks for and celebrate the life of Mary will begin at 12:00 in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Rev. James Pauley. Mrs. Overcash will be laid to rest with her husband at Carolina Memorial Park, following the services.
