Mary Juanita Bost Ritchie

Obituary: Mary Juanita Bost Ritchie, age 99, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Caremoor Retirement Center, Kannapolis, NC. She was born April 19, 1915 in the "Triece House" in the formerly know area as "Glass."She was the daughter of the late Arthur Allen Bost and Ina Triece Bost. She spent many happy childhood years at that location especially at the Old Trieces' Store. Juanita went to work as a young woman at the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant One, Sewing Room for 45 years until her retirement. She enjoyed her working years and had many lasting friendships there. She was a part of Center Grove Lutheran Church, Kannapolis, NC almost from birth. In her earlier adult years she was very active in her church, having served as a Sunday school teacher, church council, Bible school, and for many years working with the Girl Scout troop. One of her greatest joys was singing in the church choir. In her later years, this was one thing she really did not want to give up, but poor health set in and she finally yielded and gave up the choir at age 94. Her community activities were many and varied. One of her great loves was serving with the Cooperative Christian Ministries having served almost since its beginning. She made many, many friends and up until her death she stayed in touch with many at "the ministry" as she called it. She was also active in many community activities including the Christian Women's Club, Home Extension, and at the Cabarrus County Fair where she thoroughly enjoyed serving many years there. She was a wonderful lady, always ready to talk and share herself with her family and to all she came in contact with. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Gurley L. Ritchie on August 30, 2014, twenty-four years to the day of her own death. She is also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Donna Ritchie Morrison. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Center Grove Lutheran Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Loyd Ginn. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church prior to the funeral service. Survivors include her son, Donald L. Ritchie & wife, Zona of Kannapolis, NC; a grandson, Donald "Linn" Ritchie, Jr. & wife, Amy of Kannapolis, NC; a great-granddaughter, Lauren Morrison Campbell & husband, Eddie; two great-grandsons, Zeb and Casey Ritchie; and many nieces and nephews.
