Mary Katheryn Russell Seaford

Obituary: Mary Katheryn Russell Seaford, age 83, died Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital, Matthews, NC.She was born March 26, 1928 in Cabarrus County, NC, the daughter of the late Thorne Russell and Ila Jones Russell. Katheryn graduated from Odell High School and attended Appalachian State University. She was a legal secretary for the former Cannon Mills Company, Main Office where she worked for many years until her retirement in 1954. She and her husband moved to California where she worked for American Aviation. She returned to the Kannapolis area in 1964. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Kannapolis, NC. During her time in Kannapolis she enjoyed working for the late Clifford Brown who was coroner at the time. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Foy Leo Seaford.The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by her son, Rev. David T. Seaford. Burial will follow at Bethpage Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.Survivors include a son, Rev. David Thorne Seaford & wife, Elva of Matthews, NC; a granddaughter, Carrie Seaford Briggs & husband, Jonathan of Nashville, TN.Memorials may be made to Community Fellowship Church, 217 N.
