Obituary: Mary Virginia Martin Simmons Hill (Biddy), age 73, of China Grove, formerly of Kannapolis died Saturday, April 18, 2015 after a period of declining health. Visitation will be held at Whitley's Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 22 and a graveside service will follow at 2:30 PM at Carolina Memorial Park with Rev. Willie Rash officiating. Biddy was born April 8, 1942 in Cabarrus Co., a daughter of the late Jessie H. and Mollie James Martin. She attended A. L. Brown High School and was a member of Centerview Baptist Church. Biddy was a homemaker for her family and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents Biddy was preceded in death by her sister, Shelby Jean Darnell and her brother, Jessie T. Martin. She is survived by her son, James Simmons of China Grove, her daughter, Lori Cross of Kannapolis, her 3 grandsons, Joshua and Trevor Simmons and Jeremy Cross, her 3 sisters; Betty Jo McManus and Annie Ruth Ianotti, both of Kannapolis and Joyce Hannah of Concord, her step-father, Ray Cannon and also numerous nieces and nephews.
