Mary B. Walter

Obituary: Mary B. "Tootsie" Walter, lived a full life of 91 years, she passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016 at the home of her son. She was born May 8, 1924 in Kannapolis to the late Smith Wesley Brown and Grace Martin Brown. Mary was a registered nurse working in hospitals and private care. She enjoyed making cards on the computer and sending them out to family and friends and she also enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, sewing, nature, flowers, and birds. She was a forty year cancer survivor, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Rev. Ira Luke Walter. Those left to cherish her memory, three sons Danny Walter (Ann) of Pompano Beach, FL, Mark Walter of Concord, John Walter (Ginger) of Davidson, NC, two daughters; Rebecca Walter Tatem (Paul) of Chincoteague Island, VA, Miriam Walter Dixon (Charles) of Society Hill, SC, 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Tuesday (March 22) at Whitley's Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Wednesday (March 23) at McGill Baptist Church with the Dr. Steve Ayers officiating, burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
