Mary Knox Yarbrough

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Mary Ellison Knox Yarbrough, age 92, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at her home. She was born June 24, 1917 in Harrisburg, PA, the daughter of the late William Knox and Enid Lucinda Bell Knox. She was a graduate of William and Mary College, Williamsburg, VA with a degree in accounting. She was a homemaker for most of her life. She had lived in the Kannapolis area since July 4, 2004 to be with her daughter. She moved here from the Roanoke, VA area where she had lived for 45 years. In her earlier years she traveled extensively throughout the world with her mother and father. Mary was a long time member of the First Church of God, Roanoke, VA. The funeral service will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Bruce Handy. Burial will be at a later date. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include her son, Gary W. Yarbrough & wife, Florine of Goodview, VA; two daughters, Carolyn Westmoreland & husband, Jack of Kannapolis, NC and Enid Mau & husband, Michael of Roanoke, VA; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and dear friends, Marsha Baker, Nira Williamson, and Evelyn Wygal, all of Roanoke, VA and many other friends.
