Maryland (Safrit) Barts

Maryland Safrit Barts, 95, of Shelby passed away December 29, 2021 at Shelby Manor. Maryland was born January 21, 1926 in Stanly County, a daughter of the late Homer and Roxanne Safrit. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Nolan Barts.

Maryland had formerly worked at Cannon Mills and then Fiber Industries earlier in her life. She liked gardening and flowers.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, January 3, 2022 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel officiate by Rev. Allen Reid. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends prior from 12 to 1 at Whitley’s.

Maryland is survived by her sons, Lewis “Sonny” Barts (Darlene), Britt Barts (Chris), grandson, Joshua Caleb Barts and sister, Virginia Russell.
