Mary Rose Hall

Mary Rose Hall, 92, died Saturday, April 15, 2023 at her home in Alexandria, Virginia. Born on January 16, 1931 in Cabarrus County (Kannapolis), North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Clarence H. Hall and Mary Ellen Rose Hall.  A memorial service was held at The View in Alexandria on April 21, 2023.

After attending W. R. Odell High School in Cabarrus Co., Mary Rose graduated in 1952 from the Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (now UNC-Greensboro) as an English major.  She was approved for membership into The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution in 1966, where she had a very accomplished career as the editor of the NSDAR magazine for over 35 years. Along with many other accolades, she was presented the George Washington Honor Medal of the Freedoms Foundation for 3 consective years.

Mary Rose was an active member and volunteer at Grace Episcopal Church in Alexandria. She loved poetry and enjoyed her participation in the poetry club at The View.

She is survived by cousins Robert Rose and wife Susan, Mary June Rose and her son, Jon Redmond (and family), Judith Hall Pate, and Mary Alice Wildman.

A private burial service is being planned for May 8, 2023 at Greenlawn Cemetery in China Grove, North Carolina, with The Rev. Craig A Dolack as Officiant.
