Mason Ashby Moss

Obituary: Mason Ashby Moss, 92, of Kannapolis went to be with his Lord on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at his residence following a period of declining health. He was born Nov. 3, 1922 in Patrick County, Va. a son of the late William Thomas ad Edna Wilson Moss. Mason was a retired supervisor with Cannon Mills with many years of service. He was a member of Kannapolis Church of God. He enjoyed playing musical instruments, raising a garden and sharing its bounty with others, deep sea fishing and taking family members to the outer banks. He considered his family his most precious possession; as they did him. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather. He affectionately referred to his granddaughters and great granddaughters as his "Dolls". In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Kay Moss, five brothers, Odell, Edgar, Carl, Paul, and W.A. Moss and three sisters, Lena Waldroup, Alice Sloop, and Katie Almond. Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Lucille Moss of the Home, two sons, William Arnold Moss of Kannapolis and Gary Mason Moss (Anita) of Landis, two daughters, Ann Moss Adcock (Lynn) and Helen Moss Coone both of Kannapolis. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:30 P.M. Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Dr. Greg Sloop. Entombment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-2:30 P.M. Saturday prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence.
