Obituary: Matthew Rudd Farrington, 33, of China Grove died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at his residence. Death was unexpected. He was born February 2, 1979 in Cabarrus County, NC a son of Michael Rudd Farrington and Cathy Louise Kirkley Farrington of China Grove. Matthew was a veteran serving with the US Navy. He was of the Baptist Faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing his guitar and listening to music. He also enjoyed sketching art work. In addition to his parents he is survived by two sisters, Kelly Moore and Jennifer Farrington both of China Grove and two nieces, Regan Moore and Kenadie Moore of China Grove, Maternal grandparents Newell and Doris Kirkley and numbers cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Rudd and Juanita Farrington. Funeral services will be 5:00 P.M. Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Phil Long. The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 PM Saturday prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence of the parents in China Grove. Burial will be in the National Cemetery at a later date will military graveside rites conducted by the US Navy and Rowan County Honor Guard. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, Florida 32256.
