Matthew Thomas Kay, 53 years old, born in Taunton, Massachusetts in December of 1967; one of a pair of twin boys to Walter Kay Sr. and Cynthia (Rose) Kay died unexpectedly on August 19, 2021, at his home in Concord, North Carolina.
He is survived by his children Nicholas Kay, 27 and Elizabeth Kay, 24 of Kannapolis, North Carolina, his mother Cynthia (Rose) Kay of East Taunton, MA and his twin brother Walter Kay Jr. (Dawn) of Newport, RI. He was preceded in death by his father Walter Kay Sr. Matthew enjoyed growing up in East Taunton, MA and the summer life in Cape Cod, MA. From a very early age,
Matthew enjoyed being mischievous with his twin brother Walter Jr. He enjoyed playing sports and especially loved playing football for the Taunton High School Tigers. He loved the outdoors: he developed into an avid hunter with both guns and bow, often going on hunting trips with his dad and Uncles. He loved taking his children on camping trips and going on hikes. He was also an expert Scuba diver and fisherman; he often caught the most fish in the group. During the wintertime Matt enjoyed skiing, hockey, and ice skating. He was an avid sports fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and New England Revolution. He enjoyed spending time with his two kids, especially while playing golf, disc golf, playing computer games, watching TV shows, eating out, and going on walks around local parks.
When Matt entered the working world, he followed his brother’s footsteps into the Information Technology field and held several challenging IT positions, including Sysco and Wells Fargo. He attended Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, MA for a few years for Business and received his Bachelor’s Degree in computer science. He also achieved numerous IT Certifications over his career.
A Celebration of Matthew’s Life will be held in Taunton, Massachusetts at a later date.
