Matthew Scott Philemon

Matthew Scott Philemon, 28, of Marshall, NC passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022. Matthew was born on October 01, 1993 in Monroe, NC to Michelle Kirby and Scott Philemon. Matthew was a loving son, grandson, father, brother and friend.

Matthew was a diesel mechanic and a proud member of the Walnut Fire Department. He loved spending time working on and building cars, and spending time with his family and friends. Matthew was known for his huge heart, big and goofy personality, and for his love of cars and racing. He loved cheering his son on at sporting events and loved being a girl dad to his daughter. Matthew loved his entire family until the very end.

Matthew was preceded in death by his great grandmother, Doris Biggs, and Gram, Kathy Kirby. Survivors include his mother, Michelle Kirby (Kenneth Owens III; KO); father, Scott (Tammy) Philemon; Bonus dad, Trey (Wendy) Baucom; Children, Brayden Philemon (mother, Cayce Philemon) and Paisley Philemon; sister, Ashley (Tyler) Barron; brother, Carson Philemon; Papa, John (Colleen) Kirby; Nephews, Wyatt Barron, Ray Barron; Niece, Emma Barron; and numerous grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM. The service will begin at 2:00 PM and is being officiated by Pastor Jesse Herring.
