Obituary: Mattie Catherine McElroy Davis, 90, of Transitional Health Services, formerly of 502 Ford Street, Kannapolis, went to her heavenly home on November 3, 2010. She was born August 16, 1920 in Madison County, Georgia to the late John Robert McElroy and Mary Elmira Collins McElroy of Colbert, Georgia, and lived in Kannapolis since 1942.She retired from Cannon Mills Sewing Room Department in 1982 after 35 years of service. Graveside rites for Mrs. Davis will be open to family and friends at Carolina Memorial Park on Sunday, November 7th at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Darrell Coble officiating. Her husband, Buster Brown "Buck" Davis, preceded her in death in 1982.Also preceding her in death were sisters Corrie Linker, Rose Lee Cape, Cornelia Giddens, and brothers, James, Thomas, and Sam McElroy. Survivors include a daughter, Jeanette Davis Robinson of Concord, a son, John William Davis (wife, Linda) of Milwaukie, Oregon, three grand-children, Scott Robinson (wife, Anne) of Concord, Renee Busbee (husband, Calvin) of Charlotte and Karen Kay (husband, David) of Conover; six great-grand-children, Jennifer Kay Ventura, Stephanie Kay Webb (husband, Justin), Matthew Brown (wife, Rachel), Alexandria Brown, Jack Robinson and Molly Robinson. Other survivors include her sisters, Ruth Pace of Commerce, Gloria McElroy of Colbert, Frances McElroy of Comer, and brothers, Rufus McElroy of Hull, and Robert McElroy of Athens, all of Georgia, and a number of nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff and employees of Transitional Health Services for the kind and compassionate care Mrs. Davis received for over nine years, from Assisted Living to Skilled Nursing Care. Mrs. Davis was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and memorials may be made to the CBC Building Fund at 703 Buick Avenue, Kannapolis, NC 28083.Whitley's Funeral Home assisted the family of Mrs. Davis.
Visitation: No formal visitation.

Service: Graveside rites 2 P.M. Sunday Nov. 7th at Carolina Mem. Park.

Interment: Carolina Mem. Park
