Obituary: Mauldin Monroe Daniel, age 93, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, March 29, 2012 on the day of his birthday at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after a brief illness. He was born March 29, 1919 in Madison County, Georgia, the son of the late Toombs Russel Daniel and Evie Dellree Carithers Daniel. Mauldin was employed as a chemical Lab technician with the former Burlington Industries, Mooresville, NC for many years until retirement. Prior to that time he worked at the former Cannon Mills Company for most of his working life. He and his wife were charter members of the Kannapolis Tabernacle which became Grace Covenant Church. He is remembered for playing a steel guitar in a gospel band throughout the years in his church and at other area churches. He was also a Sunday School teacher there. He is fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather who raised his four daughters to be loving Christians. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Grace Covenant Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Glynn E. Weatherby, Jr. and Dr. W. Tom Snipes. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the church prior to the funeral. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Gladys Whitley Daniel; four children, Sharon Wilhelm of Kannapolis, NC, Rachel Goodman & husband, Wayne of Kannapolis, NC, Martha Brafford & husband, Roger and Cherry Utley & husband, Jack, both of Mt. Pleasant, NC; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Fortson of China Grove, NC; and one brother, Jay Walter Daniel of Florida.
