Obituary: Maurice Greydon Cook, 89, of Kannapolis passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017 at the Tucker Hospice House. He was born November 22, 1927 in Cabarrus County, a son of the late Henry Greydon Cook and Blanche Swink Cook. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sara Cook Foster and two brothers, Harry and Melvin Cook. Maurice retired from Cannon Mills after 44 years where he worked at Plant 1 #6 Weave Room. He was a graduate of Winecoff High School. He was a veteran of the US Army 1946-47. Maurice was a member of Center Grove Lutheran Church where he had been active in various activities including former Sunday school superintendent, Church Council and Property Committee member. Maurice loved watching sports, especially being an Atlanta Braves fan. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Center Grove Lutheran Church officiated by Pastor Loyd Ginn. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 PM prior at the church. Maurice is survived by his wife of 66 years, Elizabeth Rodgers Cook, two daughters, Elizabeth "Cookie" Hamilton (Don) of Rockwell, Marcia Graybeal (Dennis) of Kannapolis, 3 grandchildren, Kelly Eddings Semcho, Jason Eddings, Trent Graybeal, 3 great grandchildren, C.J. Semcho, Ethan Eddings and Jaxon Eddings and his sister, Bette Cook Fisher of Concord. Memorials may be made to Center Grove Lutheran Church, 1601 South Cannon Blvd. Kannapolis NC 28083 and /or Hospice of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
