Obituary: Max Brown Christy, 85, of Kannapolis went to be with his Lord on Friday, April 26, 2013 at his residence. His death follows a six month illness. Mr. Christy was born in Rowan County on October 26, 1927 the son of the late Amos W. and Hope McCombs Christy. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister; Peggy Ewing, and a great great grandson, Ruger Nicholson. Funeral services for Mr. Christy will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 29, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel with Revs. Jim Brookshire and Edwin Chriscoe officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 to 2:00 PM on Monday prior to the services. Mr. Christy was a long time shoe repairman and farmer who enjoyed serving his church in various capacities and especially enjoyed singing in the church choir. Mr. Christy is survived by his wife Betty Sue Shinn with whom he celebrated 66 years of marriage. In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons; Steve B. Christy and wife Cheri of Rockwell, Ted Christy and wife Teresa of Kannapolis, a sister; Faynell Floyd of Kannapolis, 5 grandchildren; Kirk, Scot, Aaron, and Kristopher Christy, and Amanda Solomon, and 9 great grandchildren.
