Obituary: Max Douglas Neal, 84, of Kannapolis died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 5th at Carolinas Health Care-NorthEast. Max was born June 28, 1934 in Spartanburg Co, SC, son of the late Sam Neal and Bessie Hayes Neal. In addition to his parents, Max is preceded in death by a number of brother and sisters. Max served in the U.S. Navy stationed with the U.S.S. Saratoga. He was a member of Skyland Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and a proud member of the church choir. He is survived by his wife, Dottie Neal of the home, a son and a daughter; Jeffrey Wayne Neal and daughter, Kathy N. Craven (Mark); two grandchildren, Shannon Craven (Melissa) and Sam Craven (Devyn) and a great-granddaughter, Laylee Alice Craven. Max is also survived by a sister, Barbara Toutman (Herman and a number of nieces and nephews including a special niece, Barbara Brown and a special nephew, Wayne Smith. The service for Mr. Neal will take place on Thursday, August 9th at 12:00 noon at Skyland Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dennis Morgan. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive friends at the church from 11-12:00p.m., before the service. Memorials can be made to his church; Skyland Baptist Church, 200 S. Little Texas Road, Kannapolis, NC, 28081.

Service: 12:00 Noon, Thursday August 9th Skyland Baptist Church, Kannapolis.

Interment: Carolina Memorial Park Kannapolis, North Carolina.
