Maxine Turner Carter, 98, of Kannapolis went to her heavenly home on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Morningside of Concord.
Maxine was born on April 20, 1925 in Oakboro, NC to the late Walter Turner and Ruby Strawn Turner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Ray Carter, and daughter, Judy Lynn Carter Griffin.
Maxine worked in the Set Department of Cannon Mills for 21 years. She later worked as an operator with Concord Telephone Company for 18 years until her retirement in 1987. Maxine was a faithful Christian and longtime member of Midway United Methodist Church.
Her hobby was sewing, and she made clothes for her daughters and herself for decades. One of her favorite creations was Easter dresses for the three of them. In her younger years, she also enjoyed square dancing. She and Ray, along with their daughters, joined friends in Concord every Saturday evening to dance the night away.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Deborah Rae Carter; grandchildren, Brett (Melanie) Griffin and Drew (Lisette) Griffin, Justin (Gwen) Breault and Carter (Alexis) Breault; and great-grandchildren Ella Griffin, Rowan Griffin, Nora Griffin, Aiden Griffin, and Anneliese Griffin.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Midway United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow and begin at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Craig Allen officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Carolina Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Midway United Methodist Church, 708 South Main Street, Kannapolis 28081.
