Obituary: Maynard Kerley, 82, passed away Friday, February 27, 2015 at his residence. Mr. Kerley was born May 6, 1932 in Alexander County to the late Rom Kerley, Sr. and Fannie Mae Blackwelder Kerley. Maynard was married to the late Mary Frances Furr Kerley who preceded him in 2008. Mr. Kerley was the parts manager for Great Dane Trailers and was the shop foreman for Central Transport. He attended First Baptist Church of Enochville; he also served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps (Korean Conflict); he was an avid sports fan which brought him great enjoyment. Survivors include his daughters, Wanda Funderud of Concord, and Sherry Thomas of Albemarle; three grandchildren, Joshua Nolan Adams and his wife, Allison Deal Adams, Bryan Keith Belk, and Leah Belk Williamson and her husband Bobby; two great- grandchildren, Tate Nolan Adams and Chase Franklin Adams; two brothers, Dwight Kerley of Kannapolis and Rom Kerley, Jr. of Kannapolis; and a sister, Margie Hardy of Landis. He was preceded in death by his wife; and great-grandchild, Arizona Jade Belk. A funeral service will be held 1:30 P.M. Monday, March 2, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel with the Rev.
