Obituary: Salisbury - Mrs. Mazie Irene Bailey Peeler,80, of Salisbury, NC died Friday, May 8, 2009 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC. Death was unexpected. She was born March 16, 1929 in Gaston County, NC daughter of the late Jessie James and Mary Gertrude Bailey. In early life she was employed by Cannon Mills, Plt. #1. She later was employed by and retired from General Electric in Salisbury. She was of the Baptist Faith. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and being with her pets. She was an avid Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. fan. She was also a Carolina fan. She was a 1945 graduate of China Grove High School. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Mike Hubbard. Interment will follow in Brookhill Memorial Gardens, Rockwell. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday 6:00-8:00 P.M. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Lee Peeler who died in l987, a Son, Ricky Lee Peeler, Three Brothers: J.N. "Buck" Bailey, J.D. Bailey, Arthur A. Bailey, Two Sisters: Estelle Cloninger and Connie Fink. She is survived by a Son: Leon Overcash and Fiance Charlesanna P. Corbett of Kannapolis, a Daughter: Margaret Ann Peeler Curtis and Husband David of Winnie, Texas, a Sister, Helen Saxon of Spencer, two grandchildren: Jennifer Overcash Johnston and Manuel Leander, III. Two Great Great Grandchildren: Bryce Michael Johnston and Kendal Alise Johnston. Memorials may be made to the Bostian Heights Fire Dept., 8211 Old Concord Road, Salisbury, 28146, or to the Rowan County Rescue Squad, 1140 Julian Road, Salisbury, NC 28146. The family would like to express their appreciation for the care and kindness given to Mrs. Peeler by the Bostian Heights First Responders, ER and ICU Staff at CMC-NE.
