Melba "Clarice" Lowery

Melba “Clarice” Leonard Lowery, 95, of Rockwell, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

Clarice was born on January 6, 1930 in Anson County. She was a cherished daughter of the late Joel Franklin Leonard and Daisy Mae Marze Leonard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Everette Lowery; her daughter, Deborah Lowery and her brother, Joel Audrey Leonard.

Clarice was true granny in every sense of the word, she was known for her tender heart, warm kitchen, and hands that were never still. She was the kind of grandmother who made everyone feel at home—whether you were family, friend, or just passing through.

She had a passion for cross stitch and sewing, and her family was blessed with handmade treasures that will continue to be cherished. Her home was always filled with the comforting smell of something cooking—her chicken and dumplings were a family favorite, and she somehow always had cookies or a homemade dessert ready to share.

Her garden was another source of joy. She could grow just about anything, from flowers to vegetables, and she took great pride in watching things bloom and thrive under her care.

Above all, she loved the Lord with all her heart and was member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Melba Joyce Faulkenberry Mull; grandchildren, Samantha Faulkenberry, Matthew Faulkenberry, and James Hinson; 8 great grandchildren; and 1 great- grandchild;.

The family will receive friends from 11:00am- 12:00pm on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis. The funeral service will start at 12:00pm following the visitation. Burial will begin at 2:30pm at Long Pine United Methodist Church Cemetery in Peachland, NC.
