Melinda Oakley Arizmendi

Obituary: Melinda Oakley Arizmendi, age 44, died Monday, December 13, 2010 at CMC-Main, Charlotte, NC after a serious illness of one week. She was born January 14, 1966 in Forsyth County, NC, the daughter of the late Samuel David Oakley and Sue Johnson Oakley. Melinda was employed with Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, NC as an administrative assistant in the Tucker Hospice House. In earlier years she worked for Pathway Home Care, Concord, NC. She was baptized in the Baptist faith. She is fondly remembered by family and friends as a special person who touched many lives and brightened the world. Her mission in life was caring for others. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Jeremy Hyde. Burial will follow at Back Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Mt. Ulla, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, December 17, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, NC. The family will be at the home of her sister, Tammy Aranda the remainder of the time. Survivors in addition to her mother include her husband of eight years, Rafael Arizmendi; four faithful companions, Chico, Bella, Layla, and Possum Her four sisters, Janice Ingram & husband, David of West Jefferson, NC, Deborah Hicks of Landis, NC, Terri Hall & husband, Chuck of Thomasville, NC, and Tammy Aranda & husband, Abel of Kannapolis, NC Her brother, Mike Oakley & wife, Gail of Mooresville, NC Nieces & nephews, Melissa Greene, Chris Greene, and Randall Greene, all of Kannapolis, NC, Trisha Calvert and Meredith Oakley, both of China Grove, NC; Robin Hicks of Rockwell, NC, Tonya Snider and Chuck Hall, both of Thomasville, NC, Christy Lawson of Concord, NC, Marvin Starnes, Ashley Edlin, and Marco Cruz, all of Kannapolis, NC Two great-nieces, Cloe Greene and Kai Peterson and four great-nephews, Colby Greene, Aaron Hicks, Eric Peterson, and Wyatt Lawson And she leaves behind two sets of special friends, Donald & Nina Poush of Kannapolis, NC and Jeremy and Shelly Hyde of Concord, NC; and numerous friends too many to mention.
