Obituary: Melissa Jackson Pruitt, age 40, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at the home of her niece, Amanda Stafford, Tuckaseegee, NC. She was born December 20, 1975 in Cabarrus County, NC, the daughter of the late Jehu Ronald Jackson and Gloria Jean Grooms Jackson. Melissa attended A.L. brown High School. In earlier years she worked at the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant One, Wash Cloth Dept. for a number of years. In later years, she was a stay-at-home mom who devoted quality time to her children. She is remembered for her love of music and singing at church. Others remember her as a loving daughter who was always there if someone needed her. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 12:30 PM Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Randy Lefler. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 12:00 PM Thursday at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, NC. Survivors include her husband of 16 years, Jeff Pruitt; her daughter, Brittany Alverson of the home; her son, Christopher Pruitt of the home; two other daughters, Candice Pruitt and Cassandra Pruitt of New Bern, NC; two brothers, Timothy Jackson of Concord, NC and Mitchell Jackson of China Grove, NC; her maternal grandmother, Sarah Jane Grooms of Kannapolis, NC; a special nephew, Avery Jackson of Concord, NC; and many other aunts & uncles.
