Obituary: Melodie Jo Hammond Vinson Cooper, 51, of 500 V-8 Street., Kannapolis, NC died at her home on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010. She was born on September 3, 1958 in Lawrenceburg, Ind., the daughter of the late John William Hammond and the late Carol Lee Matthews Hammond. Survivors include her husband, Gary Schupert Cooper of the home. Two sons; Travis Vinson of Atlanta, GA and John Vinson of Washington State. A daughter, Regina Rowland of Kannapolis and 4 granddaughters and 2 grandsons. Also, a brother, Frederick Bates, Jr. of Kannapolis and a sister, Judy Kulu of Atlanta, GA. The funeral service for Mrs. Cooper will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Tim McQueen. Burial will take place at Carolina Mem. Park.
