Michael Daniel Capozzi

Michael Daniel Capozzi, 89, of Kannapolis died April 27, 2020, at Tucker Hospice House after a period of declining health.

A private funeral service will be held at Whitley’s Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Whitley’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 29 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Please keep in mind appropriate social distancing and only 10 attendants at a time per the pandemic protocols.

Michael was born May 23, 1930 in New Jersey, a son of the late Louis and Frances Fiore Capozzi. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served as a Staff Sergeant in Trieste, Italy during the Korean War. He later retired from Westinghouse where he worked as a machinist. Michael was an avid golfer and gardener. He was also a devout member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a Fourth Degree member of The Knights of Columbus #12167.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his beloved wife Lucy Spadaccini Capozzi and brothers Frankie and Louis.

Those left to cherish his memories include his daughters, Michelle Murray of Jacksonville, FL and Denise Bender (Robert) of Kannapolis; his sons Michael Capozzi (Barbara) of Forked River, NJ and Ricky Capozzi (Jill) of Wanaque, NJ. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; Jason and Ashlee Bender, Nicole Capozzi and Tara Reilly, Danielle, Lindsey and Matthew Capozzi, Joseph and Megan Szanto, and four great-grandchildren; Alison, Logan and Nathan Bender and Savanna Reilly.
