Michael Wayne Dixon

Michael Wayne Dixon, 63, of Kannapolis passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2025 after a period of declining health.

Michael was born on May 23, 1961 in Cabarrus County. He was a cherished son of the late James Clayton Dixon and Annie Mae Gainey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Jackie, Jerry, and Ronnie Dixon, sisters, Darothy, Bonnie, and Frances Dixon.

Michael was passionate about tinkering with small engines and was always fixing lawn mowers. A lover of music, Michael could always be found cranking up his favorite tunes, whether it was classic rock or bluegrass, often playing them as loud as his heart could handle. His love for NASCAR was undeniable, with Dale Earnhardt being his all-time favorite driver.

Above all, Michael cherished his family and his dog, Tiny, who brought him so much joy and companionship. His grandchildren lovingly referred to him as "Stinky," a nickname that will live on in their hearts. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his faithful companion, Lisa Arnette; sons, Jesse Dixon, Michael Arnette (Angela), Kevin Arnette (Taylor), and Josh Arnette; 10 grandchildren; brother, James Richard Dixon (Jane); brother-in-law, Wayne Parson and David Beaver; sister-in-law, Janet Dixon; and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:00pm- 1:00pm on Monday, January 20, 2025 at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation starting at 1:00pm. Interment will be at West lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Whitley’s Funeral Home, to help cover funeral costs.
