Michael David Horn, 79, of China Grove, passed away December 23, 2022 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.
Mike was born on April 7, 1943, in Indiana. He was a son of the late David E. Horn and Betty J. Rodman Horn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Hugh C. Horn; and sister, Jean M. Grainger.
Mike grew up on a farm in rural Indiana raising chickens and turkeys. Perhaps, living on a farm is where his love for the outdoors started. He spent his career as a truck driver working for Billing’s Freight Systems retiring in 2005. His many years as a truck driver took him to 48 states only missing Alaska and Hawaii. In his spare time Mike enjoyed watching NASCAR, Indy Racing and Panthers Football. His favorite driver always remained, Terry Labonte. Mike’s passion for the outdoors would take him on many trips to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. He was outgoing, fun, and enjoyed making jokes. Mike adored spending time with his dog, Mandy that he rescued from the shelter. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 23 years, Debbie Gullet Horn; sons, Michael Faggart, David Horn, and Shawn Horn; daughters, Rebecca Sanchez (Rick), and Melissa Bucham (Billy); Six grandchildren; and brother, Samuel R. Horn.
The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on December 29, 2022 at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis. The funeral service will follow and begin at 2:00 pm with Rev. Dennis Craft officiating. Interment will be at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
