Obituary: Mike (Michael E.) McCabe, 51, a resident of Kannapolis, NC and formerly of Williamsport, PA, passed away, after a brief illness, on March 19, 2019. Born January 20, 1968, in Rochester, NY, he was the son of Edward J. and Sherry J. (Miller) McCabe. He was a 1986 graduate of Loyalsock High School where he was known as a prankster. He was a 1989 graduate of the former Williamsport Area Community College (now the Pennsylvania College of Technology). Mike started his work life in radio; he was on-air personality Mike McKay for WILQ from 1989 to 1993. It was there that he earned the nickname "the most dangerous man in radio". (He once cancelled Mondays in lieu of alternating double Tuesdays and double Wednesdays.) He also worked as a manager at Sears at the Lycoming Mall and as a manager of Action Equipment in Williamsport. His passions in life were NASCAR, radio, N-scale train collecting and administrating the Chevy HHR forum, where he and his 2007 truck, Paddington, were beloved world-wide. Mike is survived by his wife, Michelle (Frantz) McCabe and their fur kids, Fluff, Lucy Rose (his "merplet") and Dusty, of Kannapolis, as well as by his parents and an uncle, Carl Miller, all of Williamsport. He was predeceased by many cats including his beloved Runner, Tinker and Georgie. A memorial service will be held at a future date.
