Obituary: Michael Eugene Smith, 69, of 6540 Ray Linker Road, Concord died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, October 19, 2011.Mr. Smith was born on October 10, 1942, in Cabarrus County, the son of Alice Catherine Blackwelder Smith of Kannapolis and the late, William Glenn Smith. He was previously employed in textiles and later as a carpenter in home remodelling. He dearly loved and cherished his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his canine friends.Survivors include, in addition to his mother, his 3 sons, Michael E. Smith Jr., Shane Smith and Glenn Smith all of Cabarrus County; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Smith of Kannapolis and his sister, Glenda Hunter also of Kannapolis.The funeral for Mr. Smith will be held at 2:00 on Sat., October 22, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. James Pauley. Burial will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. before the service at Whitley's Funeral Home.
