Obituary: Mildred Virginia Broadway Lyles, 79, of Landis died Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at CHS Main after a period of declining health and then sudden illness. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Friday, December 21 at 2:00 PM at the Kannapolis Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses - North with Elder Darnell Cunningham officiating. Interment of cremains will follow at a later date. Her family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service in the Kingdom Hall. Mildred was born January 30, 1939 in Rowan Co., a daughter of the late Gaither and Annie Lee Allman Broadway. In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Jean Overcash and her brother, Larry Broadway. She was a lifelong area resident and graduate of Landis High School, Class of 1957. In earlier years, Mildred worked as a bookkeeper for Johnson/K-Town Furniture Store. She was an active member of the Kannapolis Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses - North. She had a strong faith and loved to discuss scriptures with others. Mildred was an accomplished pianist and played for her church. She loved fishing at the coast, flower gardening and feeding her birds and squirrels. Mildred was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed. Mildred is survived by her husband of 57 years, Floyd Lyles of the home, her sons; Randy Lyles (Angie) of China Grove and Gary Lyles (Judy) of Kannapolis, 3 grandchildren; Joshua, Miranda and Adam Lyles, 2 brothers; Donald Ray Broadway and Troy Broadway, 2 sisters; Alice B. Lyles (Glenn) and Sherry Steele (Fred) and a number of nieces and nephews.
