Obituary: Mildred Corriher Slone, 75, of China Grove died Saturday November 21, 2009 at CMC-NorthEast after a period of declining health and a serious illness of 4 months. She was born on June 22, 1934 in Rowan County, the daughter of the late Walter Bell Corriher and the late Millie Frances Mabe. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Roy Slone, a son, Roy Douglas Slone and step-daughter, Diane Mishak. She was also preceded in death by two sisters; Margrette Freeze and Katie Bell Scarbourough. Survivors include 3 daughters: Dana Davis and husband Greg, Donna Blizzard and husband Harold, of China Grove; Barbara Knudsen and husband Richard of Kannapolis. She is also survived by 2 brother; Walter Bell Corriher and wife, Lomer and Johnny Bradford Corriher and wife Hazel. 5 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren. She was employed at Linn Corriher Mills for 18 years until her retirement due to disability. She was a member of Lane Street Church of God. Funeral services will be at 7:00PM on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Whitley Funeral Home Annex Chapel with the Rev. Wade Eason officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00PM. A private family burial will be held on Wednesday, November, 25, 2009.
