Mildred Elizabeth Waddell

Obituary: Charlotte, NC- Mildred Elizabeth Waddell, age 96, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at the Bob & Carolyn Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC after 3 years of declining health. She was born May 13, 1913 in Cabarrus County, NC, the son of the late Branch Frank Waddell and Dora Ann Braswell Waddell. She was a graduate of the former Womens' College (now University of N.C. at Greensboro). She was a member of Myers Park United Methodist Church, Charlotte, NC. She taught 3rd grade at Winecoff Elementary School, Concord, NC; Norwood Elementary School, Norwood, NC; and eventually, High Point City Schools for an overall career of 30 years before retirement. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Waddell, Clyde Waddell, a sister, Beatrice W. Calloway, a sister-in-law, Virginia C. Waddell, and a special friend, Evelyn Faye Coley. The memorial service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Brenda Newman and Rev. Steve Ayers. The family will receive friends after the service. Burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. Survivors include her sister, Lillian W. Goodman & husband, Earl of Concord, NC; her two brothers, B.F. Waddell and Joe Waddell, both of Concord, NC; 12 nieces & nephews; and a number of great-nieces & nephews.
