Mildred Ann McCreary "Mitt", of China Grove, N.C, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 3, 2023. Mitt was born September 19, 1948 in McDowell County a daughter of Frank and Marie Hensley Mitchell. She was raised in the Little Creek area of Yancy County.
Mitt enjoyed shopping and spending time at the beach and traveling to see the beauties of this world. Mitt was a great chef and enjoyed baking and cooking for her family and friends. One of her past times was to sit and enjoy a hot cup of coffee while sharing stories about her growing up in the mountains of North Carolina. In her quiet time, she enjoyed learning and studying her Bible. Mitt was very active in North Kannapolis United Methodist Church.
Along with her parents, Mitt was preceded in death by her son Scott Staton; brothers, James Frank Mitchell, Bill Mitchell, Ted Mitchell, Walter Mitchell; sisters, Nan (Albert) Fender, Joyce (Pete) Edwards, Elavon Mitchell, and Joan Mitchell.
Family members that remain to cherish her memory are her husband Terry McCreary of the home; her son Steve Staton and wife Erma of Marion, N.C.; her brothers, Rev. Don Mitchell and wife Sue of Marion, N.C. and Johnny Steven Mitchell and wife Shelia; sister, Norma Lewis and husband Henry; daughters, Keshia Sequola and Crystal Fox of China Grove, N.C.; her grandchildren, Avery and Austin Staton, Christian Burton, Phoenix and Makya Crooks, Mariah and Eli Fox; sister-in-law, Doris Mitchell, Shirley Mitchell.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at First Christian Church,1709 Rutherford Road, Marion, N.C. with Rev. Don Mitchell officiating. Family members will speak with friends from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour.
Mitt will lie in state at North Kannapolis United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, N.C., Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 noon. The committal service will immediately follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, N.C.
