Obituary: Minnie Sue Johnson Oakley, 75, of Kannapolis died Friday, August 17, 2012 at her residence following a period of declining health. She was born September 23, 1936 in Wilkes County, NC a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Esther Mathis Johnson. She was a member of West Point Baptist Church in Kannapolis. In early life she was employed by Corriher Mills in the winding dept. and later was a homemaker. She loved to sew and loved all children. Minnie was an excellent babysitter and was known for her cooking, especially her fudge. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 20, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Blair Bridle. A second service will be 2:30 P.M. Monday at Mountain View Baptist Church in North Wilkesboro. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home Sunday from 6:00-8:00 PM. At other times they will be at the residence. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel "Bud" David Oakley and a daughter, Melinda Arizmendi; three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include one son, Mike Oakley (Gail) of Mooresville, four daughters, Janice Ingram of Salisbury, Deborah Hicks of China Grove, Terri Hall (Chuck) of Thomasville, Tammy Aranda (Abel) of Kannapolis and son-in-law Rafeal Arizemdi of China Grove. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, one great grandchild to be born shortly, three step-grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters.
