Obituary: Kannapolis, NC Miriam Goodrum Tuttle, age 92, of 606 Tuttlewood Dr. died January 1st, 2010 in Greenville, NC after 2 years declining health. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Sunday, January 3rd at 1st Presbyterian Church, Kannapolis with Rev. Bill Jolly and Rev. Kris Edscorn officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at 1st Presbyterian Church from 1:00 to 2:30 PM on Sunday, January 3rd Ms. Tuttle was born April 21, 1917 in Davidson, NC the daughter of the late Cloyd Smith Goodrum and the late Susan Thompson Goodrum. A life long area resident, Miriam attended Davidson College and graduated at Women's College (UNCG) and came to Kannapolis to teach at CB Aycock Elementary School in the 2nd Grade. She met Marler Slate Tuttle and they were married in 1941. She was an active member of 1st Presbyterian Church for 68 years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia in 1988 and her husband Dr. Marler Tuttle in 1999 and her grandson, Chip Burlew. Miriam is survived by her 4 children; Susan Tuttle Aldridge of Greenville, NC, Margaret Tuttle Burlew of Tarboro, Marler Slate Tuttle Jr. and John Cloyd Tuttle, both of Kannapolis; by 11 grandchildren: Miriam Wordsworth, Susan Secrist, Tricia Tuttle, Elizabeth Burlew, Tripp Tuttle, Chad Tuttle, Megan Scarboro, Amber Tuttle, John J. Tuttle, Sara Tuttle and Jacob Tuttle and by 11 Great-grandchildren: Grey, Emily and Abby Wordsworth; Nick, Lauren, Cate and Makena Secrist; Harrison and Samantha Burlew and Lois and Chet Tuttle.
