Obituary: Mitzi Delayne Martin, age 44, of Mt. Pleasant, departed this life and went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 3, 2014. Her death was unexpected. Her funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM Monday, April 7 at Landis Baptist Church with Pastors Jeremy Hyde, Daniel Martin and Rev. Richie Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 8 at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday prior to the funeral, at other times they will be at 409 W. Mill St. Landis, the home of Buck and Shirley Martin. Mitzi was born August 5, 1969 in Cabarrus Co., a daughter of Buck Martin of Landis and Nikki Harrington of Kannapolis. Mitzi was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Central Cabarrus H. S. in 1988 with her cosmetology license. Mitzi was currently working as a beautician at Devine Appointments in Concord and in customer service for CVS in the Branchview store, Concord. She was attending Mission Baptist Church. She will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends and many other people, whose lives were made better because of her. Mitzi was always seen with a smile on her face. Mitzi loved to sing and ride with Clay on his Harley. She loved to witness for the Lord. Mitzi was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She will be dearly missed. Mitzi was preceded in death by her sister, Bridgett Martin Parker. Survivors include her sons, Corporal Justin Lee Harrington of Salisbury and Cory Wayne Harrington of Kannapolis, her granddaughter, Emrie Haze Harrington, her father Buck Martin (Shirley) of Landis and her mother, Nikki Harrington of Kannapolis, her brother Daniel Martin (Rachel) of Concord, 3 nephews, Pvt. Aaron Gilbert of Ft. Benning, GA and Isaac and Elijah Martin and niece, Elisabeth Martin, all of Concord. She is also survived by her boyfriend, Clay Singleton and 3 special friends; Tonya Stanley Linker, Lori Honeycutt and Kim Howell. Online condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com.
