Molly Whitley Hamby

Obituary: Molly Whitley Hamby, age 81, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2013 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC after a short illness. She was born December 13, 1931 in Rowan County, NC, the daughter of the late Carl Quincy Whitley and Alma Daniels Whitley. Molly was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plants One & Six, for many years until her retirement. She was a member of Victory Temple, Concord, NC where she was thought of as "everybody's grandmother." She loved her family who always came first in her life especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, John H. Hamby; a sister, Lula Bell Ledbetter; and a brother, Lewis Whitley. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Gary Posey. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include her two sons, Tony H. Hamby of Kannapolis, NC; Danny W. Hamby & wife, Debbie of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Brandon Hamby, Jonathan Hamby, Ashley Hamby, Steven Hamby, and Brandon Throop; and one sister, Gladys Daniel of Kannapolis, NC.
