Monteen Cordell Wagner

Obituary: Monteen Cordell Wagner, 92 of Salisbury passed away on Friday, July 11, 2014 at Novant Rowan Hospital following a period of declining health. Monteen was born on May 15, 1922 in Cherokee County, NC a daughter of the late Charley W. and Vaul Juanita Hood Cordell. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Burnette Wagner Sr. who died in 1996, two sons; Harry B. Wagner Jr., and Walter Wayne Wagner, a grandson; Christopher Wagner, and four brothers. Monteen retired from Fieldcrest Cannon where she was a hemmer. She was a fan of the Atlanta Braves, and NASCAR and enjoyed traveling to the beach and the mountains. Her greatest joy were her grandchildren and family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services to celebrate Monteens' life will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, July 14, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel with Rev. Billy Beaver officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 12:00 PM prior to the services at the funeral home on Monday. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Robin C. Wagner of Salisbury, six grandchildren; Tereasa Smith and husband Joel, Johnny Wagner, Jeffrey Wagner and wife Debra, Wendy Overcash, and Aprile Wagner and fiancé Jerry Caudill, 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, four sisters; Aline Wells, Charlene Layton and husband Hoy, Kathleen Wagner, and Vivian Long.
